FASHION BACKGROUND                                                                           

GOQI’s founder, Matthew Chow, was born into the fashion world. His parents worked in the leather business and taught him the trade, enabling him to discern the quality of any leather good from a very early age. However, materials are just one part of the equation. ”People like to think that they’ve purchased a product with fantastic material quality, but it’s usually so much more than that. What the designer makes of the material is key.”                                                     

ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT                                                                                                                          

GOQI is far from being Matthew’s first venture in the world of entrepreneurship. After gaining a firm grasp of financial tools as an accountant, he started his very own leather goods’ line in Hong Kong. Working with partners from around the world, in countries such as Italy, the leather industry mecca, he has truly learned what it is like to run a full- fledged business.                                                        

INNOVATIVE FASHION                                                                    

Having always loved science & technology growing up, Matthew always kept an open mind when it came to innovative fashion. When the Wearable Tech industry started exploding in 2014, Matthew recognized how this technology could simplify consumers’ everyday lives. However, he also knew that no technology company had figured out how to seamlessly integrate with lifestyle products. And so began his journey.      

A TRAVELLER’S DILEMMA                                                                       

With an ever-expanding leather goods’ business, Matthew is constantly meeting new partners around the world, sometimes traveling as many as 100 days a year. Anyone who travels frequently knows how important it is to be flexible, but flexibility is often encumbered with unnecessary items.

One of my favorite quotes about fashion is this: “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” Coco Chanel was not just a dressmaker, but she was also dedicated to changing people’s lives thru fashion.

Indeed, that is precisely how I feel about GoQi. I am no longer a simple leather goods manufacturer, I am here to enable others to achieve incredible things everyday by making their lives more organised and manageable, without compromising style.
